We were incredibly privileged to speak to Jeri Ryan at The Greatest Show In the Galaxy. Even though she was very jet lagged, she remained as beautiful and witty as ever. As this was Jeri’s first visit to the UK, she was in high demand – plus she is official nerd bait!
Jeri and The Trekkie Girls
(Spot the Jem’Hadar in the background)
On both the Saturday and Sunday she had her own question and answer session that was packed out on both occasions. As we have mentioned before a lot questions were about her costume, her boobs and how her bathroom breaks resulted in a 20 minute production break. She did have some hot-of-the-press news for us though, that Body of Proof had been renewed so we get to see more of Kate Murphy (and her fabulous wardrobe!). We had so many questions we would have liked to have asked her, about 7 of 9 and her time on Voyager but we managed to squeeze in a few including asking Jeri’s advice on how she survives Star Trek Conventions. Jeri is going to be back in the UK for London Film and Comic Con on the 6th – 7th July and seeing her is a must for every Trekkie. What we loved about Jeri was how she loves science and geekyness. She even has her Borg Alcove in her games room! Thats why; Jeri is the Queen of the Trekkie Girl Collective!
We wanted to bring you a post ahead of tomorrows Destination Star Trek London’s guest announcements. (very excited about the competitions and announcements!) The cast, the actors who play the characters are the focal point at conventions. The most memorable events we have been to, were organised with as much exposure to the stars as possible. On a Starship, the bridge crew wouldn’t get anything done if it weren’t for the redshirts, the dilithium miners and ships counsellor. That example doesn’t quite parallel Star Trek in terms of Actors v Production crew as we wouldn’t want to devalue their role. Lets say that the production crew are like the Admirals and Academy teachers. They set the mission and often get accused of being baddies! Continue reading Guest Wish List DSTL→
As we mentioned in our previous reports and vBlogs, we had the honour and privilege of talking to some of the woman of Star Trek at last weekends The Longest Named Greatest Show In The Galaxy.
However we must confess to having a soft spot for Chase Masterson. We keep saying she was a complete sweetheart (because it’s true) and she is the ultimate Trekkie Girl. We wanted to dedicate an entire post to Chase, not just because she took the time to talk to us but because she always take time to spend with all the fans. That sort of contact really makes fans feel valued. Plus she thought we were teenagers! (Our holiday to Ba’ku must have done us good!)
A little break from our reporting on TGSITG. Our Interviews are coming together nicely. Just working out the best way to share them on Blogger. Meanwhile you can check out some additional pictures on our Facebook page.
We wanted to share some news about Destination Star Trek London.
Colin from Trek News and Views was able to secure an interview Jill Ubdegrove from Media 10, the events company that is organising DSTL. We were unable to make the call as we were reporting from Peterborough but we sent Colin a list of questions in advanced and along with and Wayne from the TrekMate Podcast, they grilled Jill for information.
Day one of The Greatest Show In the Galaxy had been so incredible for us we thought Sunday would be a quieter day. We were in for a pleasant surprise.
We had overslept so we rushed straight to the arena where we once again bumped into the staff member who had helped us get an interview with Chase on Saturday and the next thing we knew, we were interviewing Jeri Ryan! We felt like we had been stunned on a medium setting!
Jeri was an absolute delight and if we thought we were tired, she was very jetlagged but still maintained perfection.
Jeri is always surrounded by security, a sad necessity due to problems with stalkers. They were rather nice to look at all weekend though but maybe next time they could dress up as Klingons, or maybe even Hirogen?
The Greatest Show in the Galaxy was held on the 12 – 13th May in Peterborough and we went to get the scoop, reporting for both Trekkie Girls and Trek Radio, we tweeted live from the show on both days.
Being southern gals we don’t like travelling north of the M25. Truth be told it did feel as if we were going to be holidaying on Cestus III instead of Risa. But our fears were alleviated when we got there.
The venue was very fitting. It wasn’t overwhelmingly large but big enough to accommodate the crowds. There were some initial teething problems due to technical issues, no card payments could be processed – this led to longer queues and caused the ATMs to run out sooner.
Our tip for the organisers would be to discount early online booking at future events.
But despite the queues to get in, there was ample free parking and the event organisers hired buses to transport attendees to and from the local train station.
Carole and Sam get all professional-like in their first convention report, recorded live from The Longest Named Greatest Show In The Galaxy in Peterborough. In this first of a two parter, we give a brief update of Saturdays events. Coming soon:
Interviews with Jeri Ryan, Nana Visitor, Chase Masterson and Alice Krige
Video update from Sunday recorded live

We have commented on how we feel about leaked photos and rumours from the set in a previous post Coolant Leak, I mean Photo Leak! But in the last week the internet was been rife with spoilers and rumours. The good news is any number of fan sites that are speculating, could be right. But they don’t know what we know….. The USS Enterprise stumbles upon The USS Botany Bay. The crew are perplexed by the occupants claim that they are relics from a Eugenics War as no one in the 23rd Century had heard of it. Records indicate that the Botany Bay’s temporal signature is the same as Spock Primes’ so they must have crossed over at some point. In this timeline there was no war in the 1990’s just plenty of purchasing on credit and the rise of ‘girl power’. Concerned about the integrity of the timeline (now they worry!?) the Enterprise tries to send the Botany Bay back to its own time. But the crew inadvertently travel back to 1994 where they have a whimsical Californian adventure. The only way they can get back is by hijacking a space shuttle (and Admiral, it’s the Enterprise!) but not before they are interrupted up an angry time travelling tramp who convinces them to take two Whales with them “because that will save you having to come back later.” Gossip Trekkie Girls cannot reveal our sources but we there is nothing to disprove this…. Oh and they are filming at Vasquez Rocks so the Gorn is definitely in the movie!
A leaked photo from the set. Spock explains to Scotty that he was supposed to get a boy whale and a girl whale. Also, what role is Mayim Bialik playing in the new movie? Your comments are welcome….
