Trek Twitter Tuesday 19th – 26th March

We love twittering our thoughts but find they seem to disappear of the edge of the galactic barrier once sent, so we thought we’d include a weekly blog post  to our favourite Tweets.  Hope you relish them as much as we.

London goes Into Darkness for Earth Hour

Source: TrekMovie

Starfleet Insignia beams over London as it goes Into Darkness for Earth Hour.

When we started our London4IntoDarkness campaign (to bring the worldwide premiere of STID to London) we bothered loads of important people with our idea. The feedback we got from the likes of Paramount was ‘probably not the worldwide premiere, but Brits will not be disappointed with what we have planned for London’. And like Darmok with his arms wide open, we certainly have not been.

Star Trek Into Darkness New Trailer

Spreading faster than a a rumour on DS9 is the latest Star Trek Into Darkness Trailer.

We have been lucky enough to see a big chunk of the film already but this includes lots of new scenes. Some battle scenes are familiar to the Trek universe, you’ll recognise the Kazon assault manoeuvre  – blasting a conference room from the outside in your ship (we have all been in meetings where we wished BC would bring a swift end to it!)
And the ‘closing-doors-on-dysonsphere-manoeure’ – look how panicky they are! Did you see the crew of Ent-D worrying? Nope, just swayed to the left slightly.
How frickin epic does this look though!! So glad we are getting it a bit earlier in the UK. It’s starting to kill us now, seeing this much but not enough! MAY THE NINTH BE WITH US!

Stolen Trek Costumes – Partially Returned

We were saddened today to learn that James, a pub landlord and life long Star Trek fan had three handmade Star Trek costumes stolen from his pub, the Coach House Keal Cotes, Lincolnshire.

However, tonight whilst on the phone discussing the incident with James and his wife April, the costumes were returned albeit without the unique badges. The ‘Passport badge’ or ‘UFP medal’ (we have seen it referred to as both) can be seen in The Voyage Home on the federation council members. We hadn’t even noticed them (the blasphemy!) so we believe they are very rare.

We were relieved to learn the costumes were returned but please could we appeal to the humanity and goodness within that person again, to return the badges too.
It took courage to return the costumes which had sentimental value to the owner, we are sure you can find that courage again to return the medals that mean so much to James.
These costumes were handmade by James mum in the 1990’s and he met his wife April wearing the lighter colour one, whilst attending a convention in Brisbane. He wore the darker Maroon the following year whilst he hung out with James Doohan.
James mum had made a third Spock costume and this was also returned tonight.
If anyone has any information regarding the badges, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Please keep an eye out on any prop websites/forums, we’d love to see James reunited with his badges.

Trek Mate Podcast

Last week I (Sam) was delighted to be invited onto the Trek Mate podcast with host Wayne and special Guest Chris Cooper, editor of Star Trek Magazine. We always have a blast when chatting on Podcasts and especially Trek Mate. As we are video bloggers we try to keep our entries short and sweet – a task that can be almost impossible. The great thing about appearing on a podcast is being able to geek out and chat away, jumping from subject to subject.

I particularly enjoyed their music feature (by Matt Warwick) where the listener has to guess what episode the music score is from. It’s really hard but good fun because I could convince myself that it belonged in any episode that popped into my head!
Music in Star Trek, is an area that I don’t often give much thought but is so integral to the build up and story line. Something I learnt from Matt that I had not known, in early TNG certain races (in this case Romulans) had their own style of music to accompany them).

12.00 Arrive at BFI IMAX London. We notice two cars outside, an amazing coincidence!?

UK Star Trek Into Darkness – Press Screening

Last night reported on a press screening event in Brazil where 38 minutes of the film were shown. So we suspect our press screening in London today will be somewhat similar.
We want to respect the wishes of all fans, those who want the scoop and all the gory details but also those who appreciate the surprise and anticipation. Therefor, we won’t be tweeting any spoilers, instead we’ll update this page and spoilers can be seen after this jump.

ST: Into Darkness – Another Special Footage Screening?

Last December you may recall we were invited to a special footage screening of Star Trek Into Darkness. This was the first 9 minutes of the film and included a talk with the Producer Bryan Burk, Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve. It was the highlight of the year.

If those bloody Trekkie Girls mention the
worldwide premiere for London one more time I’ll tear this city apart!
So we are as surprised and excited as a kid on a holodeck to discover we have been invited to another special footage screening tomorrow!
