Star Trek London Revealed!

Six Months, Five Captains, One Destination equals Thousands of excited Trekkies!

Today was the big reveal. We feel like we have died and gone to Sto Vor Kor

www.startreklondon.com

William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula are all attending this incredible event.
From what we can see this is more than your average convention. There will be a bridge set for photos, original sets, props and stunt displays!? It promises to be interactive and more focused around the fans.

We thought that the event would be focused around the movie and are gratefully wrong, as this will have something for every fan.

Reason we love this event already: It has something for everyone. Not all Trekkies want the same thing out of a convention. Some relish the talks, some go just to see the trade stalls, others just want to meet the guest stars. Some ‘only like DS9’ (you know who your are!).
This appears to accommodate all of us, and goes further. We’ve never seen a convention where they have live stunt shows before. We get the impression there is a focus around revealing some of the movie magic, in the same way they are with movies like Harry Potter. Hopefully this will filter through to some of the guest stars. It would be great to hear from the living legends that literally made Star Trek happen.

Here is a list of some of the other events you can find at Destination Star Trek:

Professional Photo Shoots with the stars
Autographs Sessions

Lets take a look at the pricing structure:

Standard one day access is £29 – This is incredibly good value for money in our opinion. It is an ideal budget option if you want to dip your toe and sample a convention and get a feel for the event. You can always top up once inside and buy extras if you are able.
Or you could do £39 for the Saturday and Sunday and includes a pre-signed (non-captain) autograph. This is ideal if you can only afford one night at a hotel. It could also suggest that these are the two main days to be there.
£49 will get you in the event for all three days, with a pre-signed autograph and an in-person autograph plus a goodie back and print. This is a very good deal. we’re not keen to compare too much to the Last Vegas Convention but for four days general admission it would cost $149 – approx £95 – but you are getting an extra day in Vegas. With autographs costing an average of £20 this is still excellent value for money for three day admission.
Then there are the packages.
The silver is the ‘cheapest’ of the expensive end. £225 will get you:

£2999 – VIP Pass. We have emailed for more info! We did phone the ticket line but no-one knew what this included, except for the comment; ‘it should be good for that money!’ (they win Pakled comment of the year!). There are rumours about Orion Slave Girls or CBS pimping out Scott Bakula. If we hear anything, We’ll let you know.

We haven’t decided which we will book. There’s a lot to factor in and we know many of you are unsure yourselves. In terms of value for money, it depends what you want out of the event.
If this is your first convention, don’t discard some of the more expensive options. You’ll be surprised how quickly the money flies out of your wallet when you get there.
The autographs of all five captains will likely cost over £200. But only the Latinum Platinum package covers it. So if you do want the Captains autographs, think about what package you want and factor that into your overall cost.

We are lucky that we have seen all of the Captains before so we don’t need to factor in their autographs so the Gold pass is looking good to us as you still get six in-person autographs. And we love the little people! We really want to attend the party so that is why gold beats silver.
However, eventually each of these individual options (the party, the bridge photo shoot) will go on sale. Then it will be easier to tailor make your own event, cherry picking which bits you want to participate, or you might decide that the passes
offer better value for money.

Looking through the Destination Star Trek Website we are glad to learn that they  will celebrating The 25th Anniversary of The Next Generation.

They ask us which TNG stars we would like to see?
