Next Away Mission: Star Trek Las Vegas

Four weeks today we will be beaming into the mecca of Star Trek events: STAR TREK LAS VEGAS!

Taking place at the Rio All Suites Hotel on the 1st – 5th August 2018 STLV features over 100 guests (last year was over 130 for indication of scale), recreation sets, a huge traders hall, walk up and scheduled autographs, costume contests,  Klingon karaoke, a philharmonic orchestra and many, many parties. Much like the city that hosts it, the party never stop at STLV. It is the galaxy class of Star Trek conventions!

Previous years have seen exhibitions such as the 50th Anniversary Art Exhibition, original props and last year included props and Costumes from Star Trek Discovery a month before the shows premiere.

Guests so far include William Shatner, George Takei, Kate Mulgrew (squee!), Jeri Ryan, Rainn Wilson, Brent Spiner, Marina Sirtis … the list goes on, check it out yourself. But suffice it to say there is a good spread from all series, including Star Trek Discovery.

The big question is who is Mystery Guest 100? Every year STLV have an extra special announcement reserved for their 100th guest. Sometimes they announce their 101st, 102nd guest and go back to the 100th! We like quirky!

The smart latinum is on Patrick Stewart or Sonequa Martin Green. If we wanted a high odds Vegas gamble, we’d say Avery Brooks as we know STLV will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of DS9. But we kinda hope it’s Mary Wiseman or Jason Gorn!

Creation Entertainment are Star Trek license holders who work closely with CBS to make sure the event is Borg perfection and delivering the guests, news and exhibitions we want to see.

With the announcement that Star Trek Discovery will be hosting a season two panel at San Diego Comic Con and the props exhibition will be returning, there’s a good chance we could see them returning to Star Trek Las Vegas. We’ll have to wait and see.

For the first time ever, all three of us will be there together. Whilst Carole and I have been a few times this will be Sarahs first trip to #STLV and to fabulous Las Vegas.

In the coming weeks we’ll be sharing our prep tips and no doubt scaling back our ambitious cosplay goals!  (Seriously we have had a year to prep and we’ll do it all in the next few weeks!). Look out for our vBlogs where we will cover travel arrangements, scheduling cosplay ideas, where to seek advice and generally how to survive STLV!

We hope to see many of our readers there but if you can’t make it make sure you are following us on Twitter and Facebook to get live updates as we share our experience and shenanigans.

If you don’t have your tickets. Make sure you get them now!
