ICYMI last week a competition was held to win tickets to a special fan event at Paramount Pictures to preview the new trailer of Star Trek Beyond. It will also have a Q&A with director Justin Lin, cast, crew and 'other surprises'
To be in for a chance of winning you had to submit a 50 second video explaining how you went 'beyond' as a Star Trek fan and why you should go to the fan event at Los Angeles.
Paramount gave away 50 tickets a day to the event and one grand prize a day to include flights, accommodation and entry so us poor and distance-disadvantaged stood a chance.
We HAD to go so we each made a video in the hope that one of us would succeed. And thank the prophets our Trekkie In Training Sarah won!!! So the Trekkie Girls are heading out to Los Angeles next Thursday 19th … Continue Reading ››
Rumours are floating around about the new #StarTrek series today. Pre-TNG and Prime universe perhaps? Well according to Birth.Movies.Death who has 'heard rumours'!
Now let's start by establishing, this is a rumour. There's no official word and we don't accept anything as truth until it's been been announced by StarTrek.com.
But for fun, let's explore this one for a minute.
Set in the Prime Universe
Set between The Undiscovered Country and The Next Generation.
The events of The Undiscovered Country occurred in 2293 and The Enterprise D was commissioned in 2364. So that's 71 years they have to play with. What an amazing place to start! There's many loose ends here and room to explore.
Let's start with Praxis. How did the empire sort that one out? It could tie in with Worf's origins on Khitomer and what happened to his Grandad who represented Kirk and McCoy?
Tuvok would also be … Continue Reading ››

The Trekkie Girls discuss Star Trek news from the week including Destinations Star Trek's announcement that Wil Wheaton will be attending their convention, the (now verified) fake Star Trek New Series poster and news that Star Trek Beyond had been reshooting scenes.
It's Happening! After twenty years of praying for a UK appearance the convention founders have pulled off one of the greatest challenges in the Trek actor appearance circles. The king of the geeks and internet... Mr Wil Wheaton!
This has been our number 1 requested guest at every convention. We can legitimately use that annoying Plato's Stepchildren dancing gif (we googled it, still can't bring ourselves to use it!)
Wil will be attending DSTE but only signing and doing photoshoots on the Saturday and Sunday. But he will be at the opening ceremony on the Friday, so good news if you're planning to go to that.
If you get the Captain's package (ohh myyyy) then be sure to select Photo Shoot Group C if you want a Wil Wheaton photoshoot included. But there's also more guests to be announced and apparently you can't change your group once selected. But this … Continue Reading ››
Just for fun*, which of these actors would you like to see as Captain of the new series.
[polldaddy poll=9355237]
*we said just for fun, we know there might not be a Captain 🙂
Zoe Saldana uploaded this beautiful shot of her new and improved Starfleet wear. The dress features long sleeves, a cuff and rank trimmings! Costume buffs all over the alpha quadrant swooned over this one. Look at that tailoring!
We love the collar, almost a bit TNG-esque?

Whilst it looks more in keeping with the original series dress, it retains the sharp lines and cut from the JJ-Verse in a perfect blend. Our fabulous new dress-maker may have some work coming up! *hint hint*.
The fact that she is back in the uniform is because some scenes are being reshot (according to the source deadline.com) to include the actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. Rumour has it she is playing "the high command of the Federation" which has us a bit stumped. Perhaps it's the Federation President? Perhaps in this universe, there's been a greater merge … Continue Reading ››
The announcements regarding the New Star Trek Series are beginning to read like a Trekkies dream team from an internet forum. Next they'll be telling us they've signed up William Shatner and Patrick Stewart. They'll be no complaints here!
We can't help but fan girl over the latest news that Eugene 'Rod' Roddenberry has been named Executive Producer.
Check out our reaction here:
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqEmoMO56Ns]
The series now boasts five executive producers, in addition to Rod there's also Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Trevor Roth and Bryan Fuller.
It's like they want us to like it!
Then of course there's the news that Nicholas Meyer has joined the series on the writing staff. Known for directing (and co-writing, uncredited) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, co-writing Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and co-writing and directing Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
So we have a good mixture of producers and writers that cover all aspects of the Star Trek Universe. From Meyer who worked … Continue Reading ››
Our dear Captain Kirk reported the correct information. The 50th anniversary celebrations will be held at the Birmingham NEC. 7-9th October 2016.
With William Shatner headlining (who else!?) the prelimenary guest list looks well on its way towards a starstudded event.
Walter Keonig (Chekov), Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), Jonathan Frakes (Will Riker - probably best to announce two weeks before the show!), Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax), Nicole de Boer (Ezri Dax), Alexander Siddig (Julian Bashir), Christopher Lloyd (Commander Kruge). Plus more to be announced.
From reading the press release it sounds like they have taken the best bits from the previous shows and made them bigger!
The Enterprise D bridge will be there of course, and it looks like Martin Netters 1701 bridge may also feature. (This was at the 2012 event too).
Then there is the Klingon Bird of Prey! Our listening devices along the neutral zone have told us that … Continue Reading ››
This weekend, we sat down to film our latest Trekkie Girls vBlog to record our reaction to the exciting news that Destination Star Trek is coming back to celebrate the 50th anniversary. At the time, we knew it was going to be held 7-9th October 2016 at a UK location. This was all specified in an email and the Destination Star Trek landing page which told us to wait until 2nd February to receive more details including exact location, first guests announcement and ticket sales.
But then things got exciting. Just before filming, William Shatner tweeted this gem!
Not only does he give away the location, but he confirms his attendance! woohoo!
But there's still lots to look forward to with … Continue Reading ››
