Gossip Girls

We have commented on how we feel about leaked photos and rumours from the set in a previous post Coolant Leak, I mean Photo Leak! But in the last week the internet was been rife with spoilers and rumours.  The good news is any number of fan sites that are speculating, could be right. But they don't know what we know..... The USS Enterprise stumbles upon The USS Botany Bay. The crew are perplexed by the occupants claim that they are relics from a Eugenics War as no one in the 23rd Century had heard of it. Records indicate that the Botany Bay's temporal signature is the same as Spock Primes' so they must have crossed over at some point. In this timeline there was no war in the 1990's just plenty of purchasing on … Continue Reading ››

Costuming on a Budget?

The economics of the future may be somewhat different but for those of living pre WW3, when going to a Star Trek event we have to watch our income.  We'll cover more details in regards to accommodation and travel for Destination Star Trek London in a later post but for those of you wanting to dabble in dressing up, as well as our previous posts, this may help. Choosing to dress up is a big step. But it can be pricey. I (Sam) made my first costume when I was about 14. I got a red T-Shirt and Black felt-tipped pen and coloured in the TNG costume. Then I covered my head with a pink swimming hat and went to school dressed as Captain Picard! I even gelled my brothers hair back, pasted his face in talcum powder and called him Data. It is a … Continue Reading ››

How to Survive a Star Trek Convention. Part Two

You spoke, we listened. You want to hear about Cosplaying so here is everything we know. British sci-fi fans are no longer the reserved stereotype. Once we put on our com badge and ridges we become as overt as a Dabo Girl on the Venus drug.
When it comes to picking what you want to wear. Decide now. Don’t leave it until two weeks before to decide that you want to dress up as some sort of Nausicaan/vedek hybrid. Dressing up needs planning, planning, planning. Check out our video blog about Cosplaying:

Star Trek London Revealed!

Six Months, Five Captains, One Destination equals Thousands of excited Trekkies! Today was the big reveal. We feel like we have died and gone to Sto Vor Kor
www.startreklondon.com William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula are all attending this incredible event.  From what we can see this is more than your average convention. There will be a bridge set for photos, original sets, props and stunt displays!? It promises to be interactive and more focused around the fans.  We thought that the event would be focused around the movie and are gratefully wrong, as this will have something for every fan.  Reason we love this event already: It has something for everyone. Not all Trekkies want the … Continue Reading ››

Federation News Service

There are so many great Trek related stories circulating the Federation News Network this week, we thought we'd take a minute to gather them altogether for you. 4th April If you follow Nichelle Nichols on twitter. Your jaw would have dropped when she uploaded this picture of her with a fan: Obama has fan-boy wrote all over him! Whatever their beliefs, it is always reassuring to know that a politician likes Star Trek. Would you vote for someone who hadn't watched Star Trek?  Oh, and Nichelle, Love the necklace! Source: @RealNichelle 5th April  We all celebrated First Contact by drinking Tequila Troi-style whilst listening to Cochrane's favourite tunes and dancing like our Dads, right? Larry Nemecek (The Universe's renowned Star Trek Authority himself) engaged in some seriously Jake Sisko style journalism and reported an amazing … Continue Reading ››

Happy Easter – from Qo’noS

Like most Trekkies, everything we learnt, we learnt from Star Trek. So we have always been baffled by Easter, as there is no reference to it in Trek. But we have got to the bottom of it. It is about an extraordinary man whom upon his death thousands of years ago promised he would return. His teachings are still practiced today. That man was..... Kahless The Unforgettable.
Kahless foretold his resurrection in The Story of The Promise:
When Kahless united the people and gave them the laws of honor, he saw that his work was done. So one night he gathered his belongings and went to the edge of the city to say good-bye. The people wept, they did not want him to go. And Kahless said, "You are Klingons. You need no one but yourselves. I … Continue Reading ››
