Infact, it seems like a mashup of the two most popular ideas with guest stars and props meaning its got a bit of The Experience in there too. It's being held at the London Excel, which is huge but also within transportation range from where we live! We are so excited, we won't be able to sleep tonight! Make sure you sign up so you can early www.startreklondon.com They haven't updated their website yet to reflect this news but it was only announced 10 minutes ago! Plus there is more to be announced. So we could still see our Britains next top Trekkie yet....

Colour Blocking, Federation Style

We just had to share this with you. Whilst spending our newly paid Latinum, look what we found at Karen Millen: KM2  www.karenmillen.com How fabulously Starfleet! We have noticed that the UK fashion scene is becoming more and more Trek influenced as we reported from London Fashion week where Jasper Conran plagiarised Spocks outfit from The Voyage Home.  We're heading to Karen Millen now with our Comm badges and pips! Not too sure about their shoes, but this pair oozes fabulous Captain with Starfleet colours and a tribute to Qo'noS:
Now the tough choice. Which one do we buy first? Which one do we leave until next months pay check? (not including the Louboutins, to afford them we'd have to commit to horrid acts that would make … Continue Reading ››

Star Trek London: Is this is a Clue!?

Ok we are getting a little obsessed with the Star Trek London mystery. In episode 14 of our vBlog we explain why we think the event is based around the new movie.
There is a visual clue on the registration website and the avatar on the Twitter Account. That is the new look insignia, native to the JJ movie.

However, take a look at the back ground on @StarTrek_London 's twitter homepage:

It's our good friend the Enterprise -D

Now are we reading too much into this? Does it mean something?
The Next Generation is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in September 2012 - coincidence? hmmm, … Continue Reading ››

Happy Birthday Marina Sirtis

Marina Sirtis is one of our absolute favourites on the show. The queen of Trek in our humble opinion. So to celebrate Marina's birthday here are some of our favourite Deanna Troi moments: Sam: I felt she got to show all sides of her character in the episode The High Ground. We got to see her as Counsellor, counselling Wesley for emotional support after Beverly was kidnapped. Then the negotiator, supporting Picard in conflict resolution. But I really liked how she sprung into action on the Bridge when Finn beams onto the bridge. Picard throws that awesome punch and Troi takes care of securing the ship and attending to officers. She showed real strength and courage in that episode.
Now Troi has got a lot of unnecessary flack in my opinion, ranging from her hairdo's to headaches. But one I strongly … Continue Reading ››

What’s On: July

Trekkie Girls Log...Supplemental. Boldly continuing our mission to bring to you the top UK Trek events of this year. We present to you:
July 2012
6th - 8th

Organised by the same group who bring us Collectormania (see June post). This is an all encompassing geek-fest which not only includes the autographs, photo shoots, talks and stalls which we love but it also has Anime, Cosplaying, Card trading and video-gaming zones. We find that fans are much more likely to dress up for this event. It is held the weekend before the International Comic Con in San Diego and the atmosphere and reputation of that event has influenced these London Comic Cons. British geeks all genres are getting braver and bolder. … Continue Reading ››

What’s On: June

In Part two of our What's On posts. We look at UK events with Star Trek Guest Stars.
In June we are going to:

June 2012
1st - 3rd

We have been to a few of these and they are generally well run, simple affairs. They are predominately a trading arena with lots and lots of stalls. With signing areas, photo ops and guest talks. From the ones we have been to before,  the guest stars are sat in the main hall so we can stare at them and point (honestly, its like a pet shop!). But some guest stars are too precious to be left out like nerd bait for us to chew on so they store them away in secure areas.

Happy Mothers Day

We wish all the mummies a Happy Mothers Day today. Some of our favourite Star Trek mums include the infamous Lwaxana Troi, Dr Crusher and Keiko O'Brien. Lets not forget the step mums too, Cassidy Yates and Leeta make wonderful step mothers, completely obliterating the 21st century stereotype that they are all mean. And then there is the surrogates, Kira Nerys, Deanna Troi and Trip!  But the real hero's are the Trekkie Mums back on Earth, in the present. Our Trekkie With Advanced Training - Teressa is one such mum who is on a mission to assimilate her children. We suggested she put them in a maturation chamber until they are 18 but UNICEF took offence to that plan. Instead Teressa is opting for the good old fashion approach and will be documenting her efforts for us to learn from. So here we … Continue Reading ››

What’s On: May

Normally we are jealous of all the Trek events that happen in the United States but at last it seems the UK is seeing some action. Fans in our little piece of the Alpha Quadrant have filled a big void. So we thought we'd have a look at whats to come. First up, May.....
May 2012
12th - 13th
We haven't heard of this company before (that doesn't mean anything, we couldn't name any 10 of the top 100 FTSE companies) But it looks very pro. The way they have displayed team information on their site seems to indicate that they are conscience of their brand and reputation. Which we like. … Continue Reading ››
