There’s still a chance to get your tickets for Star Trek in Concert at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall and now there’s even more reason to book! The Royal Albert Hall have announced a science talk and a quiz to coincide with the Saturday showing.
Science Behind The Movies
On Saturday 2nd of June there is a pre-show before the showing of the 2009 Star Trek Movie.
Astrophysicist Dr Roberto Trotta will lead us through the ultimate voyage around the science (and the fiction!) behind some of your favourite sci-fi movies. From cloaking devices to alien civilizations, from warp drives to transporters, find out how sci-fi writers have boldly gone where no scientist has gone before – yet.
Dr Roberto Trotta is an acclaimed science communicator and theoretical cosmologist at Imperial College, London, where he studies the properties and nature of dark matter and dark energy. His award-winning first book for the public, The Edge of the Sky: All you need to know about the All-There-Is, endeavours to explain the universe using only the most common 1,000 words in the English language.
Festival of Science Quiz
After the movie, stay on for the late night quiz….
Do you know what E =? Do you know the 3 laws of Robotics? Can you name our nearest star?
Take part in the our first late-night Science Quiz, part of our inaugural Festival of Science, prove your knowledge on questions from Science Fiction to Science Fact, and to claim the Science Quiz crown!
Big prizes up for grabs.
If you can’t make it that weekend it’s well worth checking out The Royal Albert Hall’s “Festival of Science” series which includes amazing events such as: Robin Ince and Chris Hadfield’s Space Shambles on the 15th June.
