TNG Taste of Blu Ray – Taste Gooood!

Review by Sam I snatched this from the postman as he walked up my driveway this morning. It wasn't my proudest moment, wearing only a dressing gown and having only applied makeup to one eye. Why is it, you then feel the need to tell the postman, what is it they are delivering to you? The next thing I did was take the photo above as I felt a great need to share to this with my Trekkie Friends. Its one of the few times when there is a global release date that we Brits get to watch things before the Americans wake up and fill the boards with spoilers. So Na! (be quiet Auzzies!) Then there was a great dilemma....do I watch Standard Def Encounter at Farpoint first? So I can 'feel the benefit' when I watch it in HD? Nope, couldn't wait. The Menu page is pretty basic It doesn't really need to be anything too fancy. The options include Play … Continue Reading ››

Happy New Year!

Carole and Sam at our New Years Eve party

We love New Years Eve and celebrated 4 time zones! At 10pm we celebrated the Estonian New Year with our lovely Estonian friend Kaidi.
Then we thought we had better celebrate Central European Time for our European neighbours. Then it was good old GMT time, centre of the universe!
We went to bed just after New York hit midnight.
We have had a great year and starting Trekkie Girls has definitely been a highlight for us (we had been talking about it for 15 years!)
We did have lots of trek shenanigans on NYE though, and whilst we were in our civvies that didn't stop our friends suiting up:

What to buy a Trekkie for Christmas?

With the run up to Christmas, we like many others have avoided the shops like the Telurian Plague and taken to shopping online. But what do you buy the Trekkie in your life? Here are some of our top finds:
Compare the Meerkat fans?

I'll admit to buying my car insurance through Compare The Market just to get one of their cute Meerkat cuddly toys. For your Meerkat crazed star trek fan you have to check out these adorable little fellas.
These are knitted to order and I personally love Worf and Locutus.

For your slightly slutty friend

Confessions of a temporally displaced women

Have you ever watched one of those Jerry Springer episodes with the Man who felt he should have been born a Women?...I know exactly how they feel. Except I have no confusion over my gender....but with Time. I DO NOT belong in this time line - its always felt wrong to me! Most people put it down to watching too much Star Trek - they are right. Some say I am 'from another planet' ....thats not it though. And I've given it a lot of thought. As I look at all the aliens in ST, I'm not a Raktijino drinking warrior like a Klingon, I'm too much of a lefty to be a Ferengi and I don't have the bone structure for a Cardassian, but those self-righteous know-it-all humans...yeah thats who I am. I first had these inclinations as a young child. I recently came across an old school book which went into some detail about 'what … Continue Reading ››

T’Pol the most emotional character?

I do like T'Pol and I instantly loved Jolene Blalock when I first heard her at a convention but what was with T'Pol!? 300px-TPol2003 Honestly, she could make Counsellor Troi look like an emotionless Android. I know they have deep strong emotions but she would get teary eyed over the smallest thing. I quite like the banter you can get with Vulcans, it verges on teasing but its great when they break character a little. Like when Neelix tries to get a little smile out of Tuvok or Bones gets rattled with Spock. But if I were T'Pols friend I would tread on egg shells around her.  I think somewhere down the line she must have a bit of Klingon in her. (Ohhh my!) Continue Reading ››

Starfleet Klingon Banquet + John Carrigan Interview

Teressa, Kehlan, Carole, Sam
As we have mentioned in our previous videos, we attended the 4.5th annual Starfleet/Klingon Banquet in Northampton. This spectacular event was put on by the crew of Starbase 24 and a big thanks has to go to Kehlan for the amount of hard work she puts into these events.  Since starting the banquets in 2005 over £8500 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer support....damn Trekkies are awesome! The night was made even more special by two surprise marriage proposals and a few birthdays!
This was the first banquet to be held at the Northampton Park Inn, previous ones were held at the Milton Keynes Holiday Inn but we were very pleased with the new location. Although there was … Continue Reading ››

24th Century Socialites. 21st Century high functioning nerds. We go to Star Trek Conventions and talk about Star Trek a lot.
