Con Crazy!

Here at Trekkie Girls HQ we have been busier than the Borg collective, preparing for Destination Star Trek London that is hurtling towards us at lightspeed. As we mentioned earlier we were privileged to be asked if we would blog live from the event.  We spoke to one of the organisers yesterday and they confirmed the rumour that over 12,000 tickets have been sold!!  Thats 12,000 + Trekkies! Our people, all in one place! If that isn't overwhelming enough, all 20 VIP tickets have been sold! We reckon the Grand Nagus organising this event is throwing his/her latinum in the air. We have it on good authority that the show guide with the timetables will be realised really soon and merchandise will be available on www.startreklondon.com before the event. We are feeling pretty broke having spent all our pennies on … Continue Reading ››

Where ever you go…There Trek is.

Being a Trekkie is full time. There is no break from it. Why would anyone want one? So even when we are on holiday, we see Star Trek all around us. Sam was recently invited onto the TrekMate 24 hour podcast where she and Marc talked about the episode 'Captains Holiday'. Sam recalled her holiday to America last month; I hadn't read a hardback book in a decade but I bought a big black one so I could slap it shut with one hand Picard-style whenever I was rudely interrupted. However in reality I was grateful everytime a poolboy offered me a refreshing beverage and secretly disappointed no one offered me Jamaharon.  Everything was better when I spotted Wesley Drive though.  We have recently returned from the South of France … Continue Reading ››

Trekkie Girls ep 23 & 24 – Still Surviving Conventions and Supplementary

This week is the 1st anniversary of Trekkie Girls!  We had so much to say we had to make two episodes to share with you; Our forth instalment from the 'How to survive a Star Trek Convention'. Announcements on our new website, our excitement to hear that Brent Spiner is coming to London! And that we are honoured to be official bloggers at Destination Star Trek London this October. So come along and see us and our friends at Trek Mate and Trek News and Views!

Is DSTL ready?

Remember earlier this year, trekkies across the land and far away got very excited when this webpage appeared overnight.... We got speculating right away with some rather grandiose ideas. Over time Destination Star Trek London (as it is now known) has slowly teased us with news on what is bound to be the most epic convention the Star Trek franchise has ever seen. But we haven't forgotten how much the organisers have enjoyed teasing us, drip-feeding us information whilst keeping us hungry for more. Troi says turnaround is fair play......

Federation Olympics

Olympic fever has gripped Britain and a great deal of the planet. But we wonder how this ancient tradition will go forth and shape the 24th Century and beyond? From what we can see from all series is that sport is huge! Sport players hold more fame and prestige than entertainers (If the holographic comic in The Outrageous Okona is anything to go by, then its because there are no talented entertainers!) The values and the principles of Olympics are represented in the ideals of the Federation so it is our hope that the Olympics boldly goes on to the 24th Century and beyond! Here's what we hope it might look like. The Year is 2390. The games are being hosted by Earth in Athens. All hostilities between races have no place here. There's been a great deal of debate in the news and on blogs (yes … Continue Reading ››

Trek Playlist Part Two

We all know what a great influence Star Trek has had on technology and the sciences but we hadn't appreciated what a huge impact it has had on the music industry. In our first post we shared some of our favourite Star Trek bands and Fan created songs. In this post we will share with you more from our Trek Playlist including regular songs with Star Trek References and also some of the Actors from Trek who are also performers and have albums. These blog posts were inspired by a thread on the Showmasters forum. 21st Century Star Trek Songs

This category is for contemporary songs with some reference to Star Trek. There must be loads that we don't know about so please share. But these are some of our favs. See bottom of post for links to Amazon MP3s where … Continue Reading ››

Convention Report: London Film and Comic Con

We arrived at LFCC about 10am on Saturday 7th. Our Mission: To report on the phenomena that is Comic Con....
Despite being early and having a schedule that a Space Station operations manager would be proud of, we still managed to be 15 mins late to the Star Trek talk (the horror!).
This consisted of Gates McFadden, Elizabeth Dennehy, Hallie Todd and Tracee Cocco. As Sam walked in she pointed at Tracee and yelled ‘Ohh its HER from ops!’ - so crass!
The sound quality in the talk was sadly rather poor so it was difficult to hear but we caught an amusing story about how the crew surprised Patrick Stewart after the Best of Both Worlds arc. He hadn’t been filming on the bridge for some time, what with being a … Continue Reading ››

24th Century Socialites. 21st Century high functioning nerds. We go to Star Trek Conventions and talk about Star Trek a lot.
