Destination Star Trek is an officially licensed Star Trek Event ran by Media 10 and Massive Events. They have hosted the largest conventions in Europe. The Trekkie Girls have been official bloggers to all four events so far and can be seen in panels or hosting.

The first event in London 2012 boasted all five captains in attendance and was hailed the largest Star Trek Event in attendance.  It always boasts a great lineup pulling in guests that haven’t been seen in the Star Trek convention circuit for year, such as Will Wheaton in 2016.

Over the years the event has grown it’s portfolio of sets, now including The Original Series bridge, The Next Generation Bridge, a Borg Alcove and Klingon Battle Bridge chair.

Considered an ‘event’ rather than a convention it hosts panels, costume contests, parties, a museum and trading stalls.

In 2016 the event smashed it’s own Guinness World Record of ‘The Most People Dressed as a Star Trek Character.

DSTG Day 2 panels

Mornings are not our friend but fortunately we have a timezone shift on our side. So we just made the first talk of the day with Marina Sirtis and LeVar Burton, followed by Gates McFadden and Michael then Brent Spiner. This gave us an envious insight into what life must have been like back on the TNG sets. We say envious because we would have loved to have been part or that comraderie. But it's a privilege to have them share their stories with us fans.
Check out our Twitter feed for the highlights of these talks. We then had the honour of hosting the costume contest which was actually our idea to hold quite last minute. There were so many fantastic costumes it was really hard to choose. … Continue Reading ››

Round up DSTG Day One

We arrived a few hours before the convention opened via a sneaky site to site beam in. As we walked in the opening vista is the beautiful Enterprise D bridge. We were a bit nervous when we heard the organisers had commisioned their own bridge to be made, could such a venture be trusted in a commercial venture? (typical lefties) but we were stood relieved on the bridge which is a sympathetic tribute. Most importantly, you feel like a boss sat in that chair!
The museum was much improved from DSTL with more space to browse and a lot more costumes. Somehow seeing the clothes the actors wore makes us feel closer to them... Ok we sound creepy, we didn't touch anything we promise!
The Borg alcove, like the bridge help recreate the … Continue Reading ››

DSTG. Museum and regeneration chamber

Up to our usual shinnanigans we explore the Borg Regeneration chambers and the museum. Sadly the video doesn't showcase how well made these are. They were commisioned especially for this event, there's two and they look like something out of Voyagers cargo bay... Or Jeri Ryan's games room apparently!

Karl Urban Press Conference

Karl enters the stage and we prepare to strap down Carole (it's like she collects restraining orders!) He woos the audience by speaking in German (most people are English and just smile and nod!) Karl talks about being a fan of Star Trek and grew up watching the original series and how he is a great admirer of DeForest Kelly's Bones. We didn't catch much else because we were too busy staring!

Mega guest press conference!

No sonner does the TNG conference finish as nearly every other guest arrives on stage. We find press conferences a bit weird because there is no fan spirit just photogs gawking!

Dominic characteristically gets the first joke in when they ask for questions he asks "when's lunch?" - well we laughed!

Trek radio ask Jeffrey Coombes about difficult makeup. But Jefferey doesn't have a favourite, he said it would be like picking a favourite child.

We asked Dominic and Conner about the campaign to bring back Enterprise which they felt was very flattering, especially seeing people standing outside the studio and actively campaigning. But they feel it is unlikely with the industry being as it is. - shame!

William Shatner Press Conference

So the first question is interesting... Does Mr Shatner think the moon landings were faked?

No, is his reply and we think the questioner got away lightly!

How did he feel about being captain? Like a big boss!

And the prospect of being in a Star Trek movie? It would be a difficult one to work but is grateful that Star Trek is being kept alive in the new franchis

He has been a busy man, talking about designing a watch, and a motorbike - a motorbike! How good would a William Shatner motorbike be!

He also mentioned about making a documentary all about The Next Generation, definetely worthy of more questions but sadly there was no time

Press Conference – TNG

We just sat in the TNG press conference with Michael Dorn, LeVar Burton, Marina Sirtis and gates McFadden

It was a bit tough at first as no press were asking questions which is the opposite to when fans are present so we thought we'd get the ball rolling by asking he first question. So we asked if they had seen the Enterprise bridge yet. Marina with her brilliant British humour informed us that she used to work on the real Enterprise bridge so no big whoop!

A slightly more serious question about why the TNG crew got along so famously, Marina spoke about how rare it is for Hollywood but it was luck and chemistry and trickled through the cast. But Patrick Stewart was a serious actor, something that took 6 months to break! Then he was the ring … Continue Reading ››

First contact with DSTG

We have landed! DSTG is a bit like a starship without any families at the moment and they're still attaching the warp nacelles but soon it will be breaking with fans! We couldn't wait though and snuck in to give you this preview.
The bridge - if you saw the one at Hyde park or Vegas, this isn't it! It's more of a photo set piece but it is amazing! It consists of the three seats, the wooden arch, backlit panels and turbo lift doors. It looks the real deal and has pride of place as you enter the hall. There are much more mechandise stalls which are more relevant. Keep tuned for more sneaks peaks soon....

We’re off!

Good bye England we're off to DSTG in Frankfurt. We have our bags packed solid with costumes, wigs, comm badges. We can't even fit in a change of clothes for the way home!

As usual we'll be tweeting all the happenings throughout the three day event. We're also going to sneak in early tomorrow morning and give you a sneak preview of the event! (Because waiting a few hours is unacceptable!).

We'll be hosting a number of events over the weekend so please add us to your timetable. Here's what we're planning (times subject to random changes!)

Friday 21st :
15.45 - 16.15 Stage B
Welcome to DSTG.

Drop in and say Hi, get to meet other trekkies. We share some hints and tips to surviving a convention … Continue Reading ››
