Live Updates – Star Trek Beyond Event LA

We're here! And tonight we'll be reporting live from Paramount Pictures Studios all the info we can share about the new Star Trek trailer and details from the event that begins at 19.00 PDT which is 03.00 BST Saturday in the UK. Please stay up and join us for a virtual party! We still don't know exactly what to expect. We are allowed to bring phones and cameras to the event which is good, it means they want us to share any news (and you can reply on us for that!). But we do have to surrender them whilst we enter Stage 32. - Whatever for? We don't know but we can't wait to find out! Local Trek expert and our friend Larry Nemecek on Trekland suggests we might see some props and displays? I nearly threw-up with excitment when Carole suggested it might be the Bridge set from the new movies! Make sure you're following us on Continue Reading ››

We’re going Beyond!

ICYMI last week a competition was held to win tickets to a special fan event at Paramount Pictures to preview the new trailer of Star Trek Beyond. It will also have a Q&A with director Justin Lin, cast, crew and 'other surprises' beyond-contest-poster To be in for a chance of winning you had to submit a 50 second video explaining how you went 'beyond' as a Star Trek fan and why you should go to the fan event at Los Angeles. Paramount gave away 50 tickets a day to the event and one grand prize a day to include flights, accommodation and entry so us poor and distance-disadvantaged stood a chance. We HAD to go so we each made a video in the hope that one of us would succeed. And thank the prophets our Trekkie In Training Sarah won!!! So the Trekkie Girls are heading out to Los Angeles next Thursday 19th … Continue Reading ››

Trekkie Girls ep New Series, New Movie, New Convention news

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ud89K_ra6Cs] The Trekkie Girls discuss Star Trek news from the week including Destinations Star Trek's announcement that Wil Wheaton will be attending their convention, the (now verified) fake Star Trek New Series poster and news that Star Trek Beyond had been reshooting scenes.

WHEATON – DSTE!!!!

It's Happening! After twenty years of praying for a UK appearance the convention founders have pulled off one of the greatest challenges in the Trek actor appearance circles. The king of the geeks and internet... Mr Wil Wheaton! 12007245_10153454069056500_706512262_n This has been our number 1 requested guest at every convention. We can legitimately use that annoying Plato's Stepchildren dancing gif (we googled it, still can't bring ourselves to use it!) Wil will be attending DSTE but only signing and doing photoshoots on the Saturday and Sunday. But he will be at the opening ceremony on the Friday, so good news if you're planning to go to that. If you get the Captain's package (ohh myyyy) then be sure to select Photo Shoot Group C if you want a Wil Wheaton photoshoot included. But there's also more guests to be announced and apparently you can't change your group once selected. But this … Continue Reading ››

SFBall 2016

12592417_1092267050837550_2915522661311239442_n.jpg The weekend 5th-7th February 2016 marked the 22nd SF Ball at the familiar venue of the Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton. Guests of "Trek interest” were Casey Biggs and Vaughn Armstrong of the incredible Enterprise Blues Band, and Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer of Enterprise fame. Unfortunately we were a Trekkie Girl down as Sam had been hospitalised with suspected appendicitis! But the show had to go on, so Carole and I hot-footed it over to Southampton! A beautiful sight to behold, the ever-expanding bridge of the USS Riker’s Beard welcomed us aboard – we even met their Captain – as well as the lovely guys from the Manchester based USS Phoenix. image As ever the atmosphere was electric, and the costumes were top-notch! In particular the three Daleks were absolutely faultless and quite frankly scared the bejeezus out of me! Clearly Carole … Continue Reading ››

DSTE – first guests announced

Our dear Captain Kirk reported the correct information. The 50th anniversary celebrations will be held at the Birmingham NEC. 7-9th October 2016. With William Shatner headlining (who else!?) the prelimenary guest list looks well on its way towards a starstudded event. web-logo-v6.jpg Walter Keonig (Chekov), Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), Jonathan Frakes (Will Riker - probably best to announce two weeks before the show!), Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax), Nicole de Boer (Ezri Dax), Alexander Siddig (Julian Bashir), Christopher Lloyd (Commander Kruge).  Plus more to be announced. From reading the press release it sounds like they have taken the best bits from the previous shows and made them bigger! The Enterprise D bridge will be there of course, and it looks like Martin Netters 1701 bridge may also feature. (This was at the 2012 event too). Then there is the Klingon Bird of Prey! Our listening devices along the neutral zone have told us that … Continue Reading ››

Destination Star Trek Europe – What we know so far

This weekend, we sat down to film our latest Trekkie Girls vBlog to record our reaction to the exciting news that Destination Star Trek is coming back to celebrate the 50th anniversary. At the time, we knew it was going to be held 7-9th October 2016 at a UK location. This was all specified in an email and the Destination Star Trek landing page which told us to wait until 2nd February to receive more details including exact location, first guests announcement and ticket sales. But then things got exciting. Just before filming, William Shatner tweeted this gem! Screen Shot 2016-01-31 at 19.28.14.png Not only does he give away the location, but he confirms his attendance! woohoo! Screen Shot 2016-01-31 at 19.26.54.pngScreen Shot 2016-01-31 at 19.27.55.png But there's still lots to look forward to with … Continue Reading ››

Destination Star Trek Europe

ITS HAPPENING!Destination Star Trek Europe!  Everything we know is contained in this picture below which we stole from the www.destinationstartrek.com landing page   Now as you know, we have been arse-kissing friends with convention founders at DST since its  inception in 2012 so we intend to use our 'special relationship' to find out as much as we can and keep you up-to-date. You'll notice we got this post out rather quick, we did get like, a whole hours notice! We are humble Vorta! Now to wait until next Tuesday when the big reveal happens. We wants names and location here! The best bit about this teaser is it gives away enough to start planning. We know what weekend to keep clear and its far enough to start planning and (more importantly) start saving!

SF Ball Southampton -New Lineup

With just under two weeks to go until the hotly anticipated SF Ball at the Grand Harbour hotel Southampton, some changes have been made to the lineup. We were starting to get slightly optimistic that Jonathan Frakes might actually attend but it wasn't to be. Instead the hilarious and gorgeous Dominic Keating and Conner Trinneer from Star Trek Enterprise have stepped up to add to this Trektastic lineup that also includes Casey Biggs and Vaughn Armstrong. 12592417_1092267050837550_2915522661311239442_n.jpg Casey Biggs has spoken to organisers at SFB towers and said;
“We are very excited to be able to attend and perform for everyone at the Ball this year. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is still so strong in the minds of Star Trek fans that it's always rewarding to be able to meet and chat about the magical world of Star Trek.”
Casey Biggs will be attending the entire … Continue Reading ››

Happy New Year and the big 5-0!

We wish you a Trektastic 2016 and what a year we have ahead of us. It's astonishing to think this TV and movie series has gripped our planets attention for half a century. It makes us feel so young! We were going to write up a review about 2015 but like our spandex loving crewmates, we can't help but look forward into the future. Instead, here is what we have planned and our looking forward to in 2016. 2016.jpg SF Ball. 5th - 7th February. Grand Harbour Hotel, SouthamptonScreen Shot 2016-01-01 at 18.56.55.png Trek guests include Jonathan Frakes, Vaughn Armstrong and  Casey 'For Cardassia' Biggs. If you haven't already it worked it out.... That means the Enterprise Blues Band will also be performing! (Wonder if Frakes can actually play the Trombone?)
