STLV18 Day Four – THE PICARD IS BACK!

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM0qBJJy1OE] The Saturday of any convention is always the busiest. Fortunately at STLV this never leads to suffering. It's a combination best described as  Starship on red alert with officers racing to their stations and a party on Risa, where no one knows anyone but you're all friends. We had no idea that this day was going to pan out the way it did. Earlier in the week we briefly stopped to say Hi to someone at CBS and they said "We got a surprise this weekend, I think you'll like it". We didn't think anything of it. Perhaps an Enterprise shaped cat basket was about to be announced!? We gazed at the info on the screen informing us Alex Kurtman had a surprise announcement  and suspected that they were going to tell us the air date of Season 2 Discovery. Or that they had cast Spock. BUT THEN THIS HAPPENED!!...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jPFtLRgjVc Patrick Stewart wasn't billed to be at STLV … Continue Reading ››

STLV18 Day Three

The atmosphere at the years STLV is so much more relaxed despite there being so much more original and new content to see. So far, it's the best year! We start the day with a DS9 talk.
Deep Space Nine Panel
Creation Enterainment's top Admiral Adam has joined the band are performing a very cool soft rock version of the DS9 theme track! Sorry we didn't record it. We take those 'no recording' requests serious as we'd like Press Passes granted in future years! The panel consisted of Ira Steven Behr, Nicole de Boer, Andrew Robinson, James Darren and Chase Masterson. Something we have noticed every time we see Ira is that he is very open to self criticism and openly encourages it from the audience and and the panel participants. Unsurprisingly these are the people  who need that feedback the least because they are so highly regarded. This is certainly the case … Continue Reading ››

STLV 2018 – Day One and Two

Our first day at STLV and we get straight of the plane and into the Mirror universe! Pretty sure we’ve seen that episode before! https://twitter.com/TrekkieGirls/status/1025138619659444224 The first thing we like to do as soon as we get to a convention is see everything and everyone immediately! Luckily we are doing an autograph giveaway with Creation Entertainment so this was a great chance to mingle. https://twitter.com/trekkiegirls/status/1025063280333578240?s=21 We managed one drink in Quarks before the jet lag threatened to leave us u conscious on the convention floor so we called it an early night.
Voyager Panel.
We’re up bright and early this morning (this’ll be the last time that happens!) so we beat the queue at Hash House a Go Go and order the biggest breakfast we have ever seen. Voyager panel is first with Jeri Ryan, Garrett Wang, Tim Russ, Robert Beltran and Ethan Phillips. Hosted by Chase Masterson they were a blast sharing their banter. Some of the news that came out: Garrett was … Continue Reading ››

As we said in our previous blog post, STLV boasts the largest gathering of Discovery guests ever! It's almost everyone. We want to hear every word and soak in the positivity that emanates from the cast so we're hoping for lots of Discovery panels. We're particularly thrilled that Gersha Phillips, Discovery's costume designer will be attending. We hope she gets a panel to detail her incredible work and perhaps give us some hints of what's to come. We have heard that the Discovery Mirror Universe Exhibition which was at SDCC at the weekend will be appearing at … Continue Reading ››

Star Trek In Concert at The Royal Albert Hall Review

As part of the Royal Albert Hall's Films in Concert, two showings of Star Trek were shown over the weekend, in conjunction with the Hall's Festival of Science. On Saturday the 2009 JJ Abrams Star Trek movie was performed and on Sunday it was Star Trek Beyond. We attended the Sunday concert and despite having attended a few Star Trek themed concerts at this venue, it always feels as if we are experiencing it for the first time when we go to the Royal Albert Hall.
The Concert
Star Trek Beyond musical score royal albert hall So why watch a movie that we have seen many times before at the Royal Albert Hall?  Because this time we're not just watching it, the priority is to listen. We all love the effect music has on motion pictures but hearing it performed live by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir is … Continue Reading ››

Season One Final – Will You Take My Hand Review

WHAT AN EPISODE! What an incredible first season. Star Trek Discovery Crew - Will you take my hand The first season of Star Trek Discovery was in our opinion the strongest opening of any Star Trek series. The story about the soldier and the general which Burham narates was the perfect analogy for the first season. Burham experiences fear (the encounter with the Klingon) which creates a chain of events that happens very fast. Her actions to protect her Captain can be explained when we learn how her parents were killed by Klingons and the maternal relationship she has with Georgiou. Looking back we realise how much empathy we have had with Burnham. We have been on this crazy journey with her. Michael and the crew have been on a warp speed, spore speed, non stop race against some deadly foes, they have been deceived, hurt and manipulated since day one. … Continue Reading ››

Star Trek Discovery Finale – Tweet Along and Webcast

If you're fortunate enough to watch Star Trek Discovery in North America then you get the benefit of enjoying a respectable start time (Sunday evenings make for great TV watching) and the collective benefit of sharing your thoughts immediately with others either with After Trek or on social Media. Whilst watching on Netflix certainly has its advantages, a launch time of Monday morning isn't exactly sociable or viable watching time for most. This results in many of us taking social media blackout mondays. When we saw that many of the Discovery actors were partaking in a live tweet along to the season one finale, we felt more envious than Harry Kim at a promotion ceremony. So we are having our own!! Join us and the following for our tweet along tomorrow night 20:00 GMT with: Sonequa Martin-Green, Mary Wise, Jason Isaacs, William Shatner, Damien - The Irish … Continue Reading ››
